African American Mother with Daughter
Family Having Fun

This is a test. It is only a test.

Being a mother isn't easy.

Maybe you know this story...

Of a mom who was struggling.

She was caring. Generous. Wanting to do right by her kids.

But no matter how hard she tried to reach them...

To get them to listen and make good choices…

To have a close and loving relationship...

Nothing seemed to work.

It was wearing on her.

She was tired of the arguments...

And tired of watching her child struggle.

She was at her wits end.

She didn't know what else to do.

She desperately wanted to be a good mom...

She was starting to secretly hate being a mom...

And feeling guilty for even thinking it…

Because though she loves her kids, she’s overwhelmed.

Being a mom can be hard work.

With all the pressures out there...

To be the picture perfect family...

To have all the answers.

It isn't easy.

It can be even more difficult to share with someone just how hard it is...

But it doesn't have to be that way.

Struggling doesn't make a mom a bad mom...

It makes her a caring mom.

Because she cares, she goes on bravely, day after day looking for answers.

I know, because I was that mom.

Until I discovered that it’s possible to take the struggle out of being a mom.

Hi. I'm Deborah Woods, National Board-Certified Counselor. I've been licensed as a professional counselor in Missouri since 1988. I've been counseling moms and kids for 3 decades and I struggled with being a mom raising a special needs child. Today, he's all grown up and you'd never guess he had special needs as a child.

Interested in how you can take the struggle out of being a mom too? Come inside. Explore. Look around.

Let's talk about filling your home with more joyful days and peaceful nights.

Get the free resources I've put together to help moms.

The first one is something I like to call an Essential Translation Guide for Moms. Finally, a way to translate those confusing things kids say to us when they're upset and angry or overtired or just don't have the words to tell us what they really need. The Translation Guide is totally free. Click the bright yellow title to TAKE A LOOK: Essential Translation Guide for Moms.

Come inside. Let's do this together. Explore the rest of my website and discover more.

Come inside and discover the possibilities.

Before we go any further, I'd like to share a little something with you. Courageous Gratitude: Celebrate Your Journey through Motherhood. I wrote this, easy to use, book of photos and writing prompts, to help you get some much needed refreshing.

Based on the scientific evidence that gratitude helps reduce stress, it's not an ordinary gratitude journal. As moms we need something more than someone telling us to just be grateful.

It's written as a 40 day or even a 40 week experience to help you reflect on some of the hard and amazing experiences you've had as a mom. In the book, I share a little more of my own experiences growing up in difficult family circumstances, and my journey to overcome an avalanche of challenges as a mom.

Take it as fast or slow as you need to. Being a mom can be hard. You deserve some encouragement and support on your journey. With all the great 5 star reviews the book got on it's first weekend on Amazon, I know you're going to love it. Check out the PREVIEW below. It's available in paperback and ebook.

Being a mom is hard AND there's hope.

I always say, "You can't tell how great you've done as a mom until your kids are at least 35." I've been there and I want to share with you the hope I've discovered. Check out my story on the MEET DEBORAH page or read more about Evidence-Based HELP FOR KIDS.

Maybe you're ready now to give me a call and schedule a time to meet with me in person to chat about your concerns. There's no charge to come in and get acquainted. Reach out to me at 636-795-3155 to arrange a time for us to talk more.

I look forward to exploring how we can make being a mom easier and more fun for you.
